In 1982, the ground was established as Alma Swanley’s new home. During their years at Green Court Sports Club (1982–1994), Alma Swanley enjoyed the most successful spell in their history. Soon after moving in, they joined the Kent League and went on to win the league championship in 1985–86, as well as several strong top-five finishes. They also made notable cup runs, including multiple FA Cup appearances and a Kent Senior Trophy victory in their final season, 1993–94. The ground became synonymous with their competitive, community-rooted football until the club’s closure later that year.
After Alma Swanley folded in 1994, Furness—a club originally founded in 1968—began groundsharing at Green Court following a 1991 merger that created Danson Furness United. They reverted to the Furness name in 1993 and remained at Green Court alone until their demise in 2005.
